With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, there’s been talk of love at our house. For the past several days Sydney, James and Baby Jack have liked playing with a big colorful helium balloon with the words ‘I Love You’ written on it.
Joe Bill and I think that it’s very sweet when Syd and James hug and kiss each other. They often talk about their feelings. In a touching way, as The Big Sister, Syd told us: “I have James’ love in my body and he has love for me in his body.” Then she sweetly added: “James has my heart and I have his.” Pretty profound coming from someone who’s not quite 6 years old yet talking about Her Kid Brother, who’s only 4 ½.
Ever since Baby Jack has been old enough to play with toys that are battery operated, he’s been looking at the toys to see what makes them work. I have to say that Jack has now graduated to being a Toy Inspector!
The other day when Jack was at our house he picked up a small pad and a crayola and went from toy to toy like he was inspecting them. Our godchildren Sydney and James are the same way. All 3 of The Kids are better than Joe Bill and me at using the iPad, iPhone and the toys in our house! Later Syd was teaching Jack to draw a square…currently his specialty is drawing circles.
JB and I have had lots of fun taking care of one, two or three of The Kids at a time lately. They’ve liked playing inside a wonderful red and white Volkswagen Campervan Tent that BeBe (Skyler’s Mom Lynne) gave us. James has been insisting that it’s a Fire Truck. He finally conceded that he was wrong when I showed him the box it came in. One thing about James, the little guy can be very hard headed. He finally admitted that he was wrong but smugly pointed out that I was wrong too because I’d called it a VW Bus! He’s a very literal person!
I’ve included some pictures of Syd doing Yoga. Like her Mommy, she’s graceful and strong. She showed us the Bridge Pose using only one arm and then touched her foot to her head. That little girl is extremely flexible.
I want to tell you that Jack is an adorable little ‘Neat Freak!’ He loves to clean things…something that we’ve noticed that Syd and James like to avoid at all costs. Jack’s been cleaning our windows and the white table The Kids use. At bath time he was instructing James that he needed to use shampoo and he was insisting that Syd go take her bath. The funniest thing is that he likes to clean Syd’s feet. Luckily, we have lots of baby wipes! Of course, Syd loves getting plenty of attention from all of the males in our house, no matter, what their age is!
I’ve included some of the fabulous pictures that Joel sent me that were taken while he and Gigi were on a family vacation to the Cayman Islands. The gorgeous Melrose Teague Clan had a great time in a beautiful place!
