‘Sydney Was Tiger Lily, James Was Captain Hook & Jack Was A Flying Longhorn!’

Sydney and James are all about wearing costumes any time they can….so you can well imagine, they were thrilled to put on some this weekend.

Syd instantly became Tiger Lily as soon as she looked at her turquoise costume covered in sequins and gold coins. She helped get her Kid Brother to dress up like Captain Hook. No one had to tell James to snarl. He liked showing off the fact that he’s lost a tooth. He thought that it made him look like a real Pirate!

We have a goal at our house that no one should be a 'whiny person.’ They need to be a ‘fix it' person. That’s exactly what Syd was. She ran and got a black plastic hanger and some scotch tape in order to make a hook for…you guessed it...Captain Hook!

Now that Syd is taking piano lessons at UT, this weekend we spent time looking at a book about Mozart and going on my computer to listen to YouTube music in order to hear some of the famed Composer’s masterpieces. When Syd heard Mozart’s Allegro: Serenade No. 13 for Strings in G major (Eine kleine Nachtmusik l. Allegro) she jumped up and ran over to one of the toys on the floor that has this musical piece. She was proud of herself and I was proud of her. Good job, Syd!

By then James got involved. We started looking up Beethoven’s music. I found Fur Elise on YouTube. James said that he knew that it had lyrics. My Mother has played Fur Elise on the piano since I was a child and I’ve never heard words with the melody. Joe Bill had never heard any lyrics either. Well, James was right! Good job, James! I’ve included YouTube Videos for both famous pieces.

In case you haven’t heard, Mommy Skyler is in charge of Fundraising for Syd and James’ wonderful Elementary School. She was on the Committee last year. Everyone thought that she did such a great job that they asked her to be the Chair. Good job, Skyler!

Now for Jack being a Flying Longhorn. He got to go to London and Dublin for 10 days with Mommy Gigi and Daddy Joel. I took a picture of them at the Airport right before they left.

Gigi has gotten a promotion at Facebook and is in a Leadership Position in their Global Division. Good job, Gigi!

By the way, Joel is happy that Australia won the Rugby World Cup. Good job, Wallabies!

JB and I hope that you have a fun and safe Halloween Weekend, where you’ll hear great music, get lots of candy and that your team wins!

Love, D2
