‘Sydney Tours: But Not Hooters!’

When Joe Bill and I are driving with Sydney we point out places of interest on our route. She recognizes the Capitol, the UT Tower, downtown and other famous spots around town.

Let me say, Syd really has seen The UT Tower TOTALLY Orange, but not for a football win, of course, but more importantly, for a couple of academic accomplishments. So when that little girl tells you she’s seen The Tower Orange this Fall…she really has…and more than once.

One day Sydney was with Heather when her Nanny told her: “Look, there’s the Capitol” to which Syd shot back: “You’re right. Good job, Heather!”

Another role for Sydney Marie Stewart: “Tot Tour Guide.” The girl’s got a lot going on… doesn’t she?

Cousin Jennifer is now Nanny Jennifer. She was in the car with Syd one day and she came home telling Skyler that Syd was pointing out all kinds of places…including Lady Bird Lake (formerly, Town Lake.) The astonishing thing is that I’ve only pointed it out once using the formal new name. The girl remembers everything.

This should come as no surprise, Syd loves seeing the Capitol. When we were driving past that iconic pink granite structure Syd was waving. I asked her WHO she was waving to and she told me: ‘That Lady.’ ‘That Lady’ Syd was referring to is the Goddess of Liberty. It was last week when I told her about The Goddess of Liberty being on top of the Capitol. Stay tuned, perhaps she’ll be teaching a preschool Texas History class in a week or two.

By the way, Hooters is on our route home….and I can assure you that I have NO intention of pointing out Hooters to Syd. Who knows how many people she’d be telling: “And, Hooters is there, just over the First Street Bridge, on your left!” Yikes!!!

Love, D2
