Before I write about Sydney and Easter I wanted to go back and let you know about something cute she said when we were having our Passover Seder. When I was telling Syd about the gift giving part of Passover, where she’d get a present when she found the hidden Matzah, Syd enthusiastically asked me: “Will SANTA be bringing it to me? And will he be coming DOWN the chimney?” By the way, we do have a chimney and a fireplace but I had to tell her: “No.” Being a huge St. Nick fan Syd was still hoping that the jolly old man would be involved in some way so then she asked: “Will SANTA be going UP the chimney?” Again I had to tell her: “No.” Once Syd was reassured that she would be getting a present, it didn’t really matter to her HOW it got to her!
As I’ve mentioned in the past, Syd loves to put Band-Aids on her real and imaginary boo boos. No matter what the circumstances are, we’re always sympathetic when she says that she’s hurt. The other day she bumped into something at our house and was sure that she’d need a Band-Aid NOT because she was bleeding, but because she MIGHT bleed. I tried reassuring her that she was NOT going to bleed, telling her that she wasn’t cut. Frankly, I didn’t see anything on her arm. She wore the Band-Aid for a while and finally took it off….I think because the BAND-AID, not the boo boo, was starting to bother her!
We’re frequently teaching Syd new words, so Joe Bill thought this one would be appropriate. He asked her to pronounce ‘hypochondriac.’ JB kind of stumbled over the word a couple of times himself before saying it correctly. Not so for Sydney Marie Stewart. She belted out ‘HYPOCHONDRIAC’ the first time she said it. In fact, JB and I were so impressed that simultaneously we exclaimed: “WOW” when she did it. JB asked Syd if she knew what it meant and she told him: “No.” I come from a long line of hypochondriacs so I know one when I see one!
Sydney and Baby James had a wonderful Easter at Horseshoe Bay with their family at the Stewart’s beautiful Lake House. Of course, there was a big, delicious Easter breakfast out on the deck overlooking Lake LBJ.
Then the kids had fun dying some Easter eggs with more dye getting on them than the eggs. Syd and Baby James looked like THEY’D been tie dyed like 1960’s clothing, which is a style that’s back in vogue. In every situation, Syd and Baby James are always Little Fashion Plates!
Next, The Easter Bunny took those eggs and personally hid them so that Syd and Baby James could find them around the yard. When given first choice of which plastic Easter basket to use Syd, of course, took the larger of the two. But that might have led to problems for her later.
After Syd and Baby James enthusiastically found all those eggs they were told that The Easter Bunny had just left the front yard and that he’d hidden a bunch of eggs for them there. Syd was thrilled that The Easter Bunny had given them more but she was disappointed that he hopped off before she got to see him!
Syd and Baby James ran around gleefully picking up the eggs. Syd had so many in her basket that she complained that her arm hurt her. I guess that she had what I call, “The Problems of Success” because her basket was heavy since it had a jillion eggs in it. We lightened her load by taking a lot of them out.
Luckily, Syd didn’t have tendinitis and didn’t require any rehab to get over her perceived injury. By the way, Syd is buff and really very strong. It could have been possible that some form of ‘HYPOCHONDRIA’ had entered the Easter Egg Hunt but luckily, she didn’t ask for a BAND-AID!
Love, D2
