‘Sydney Says: Boys Wear Dresses’

Sydney’s always been a very good dancer but she’s gotten even better since Beyonce and other superstars have taught her a thing or two!

Sydney, JB and I often have fun dancing together in our living room. For a long time I saw Syd dance a certain way but one day I noticed that she was shaking her shoulders a lot. She had some good new moves.

I asked Skyler where Syd had learned those moves. It turns out that her internet savvy Daddy had been emailing his friends the YouTube sensation of Cubby dancing to Beyonce’s megahit “Ladies, Put a Ring on It.” If you’ve never seen Cubby, he’s a chubby guy wearing a long sleeve lady’s black leotard. You get the picture. Syd had been watching that video over and over again.

I figured that if Syd was going to dance LIKE Beyonce she should learn FROM Beyonce, NOT from Cubby. So I downloaded the YouTube of Beyonce singing and dancing to her blockbuster song.

We even played the Isley Brother’s version of “Shout” sung by Otis Day and The Knights that was featured in the film classic “Animal House.” Syd learned how to do the ‘gator’ like John Belushi by watching the YouTube video. You’ll see. Put on that music and watch her get on the floor and dance like it was 1964!

Let’s hope that Syd isn’t sneaking out going to 6th Street or to the frat houses. The bad news for Skyler and Jimmy is, based on my observation over the years, Party Animals have Party Animals for children!!! When Syd’s a teenager they’re going to need someone, at least, to guard the furniture!!!

If you want to have fun then put on some music and dance with Syd. But here comes one of those WARNINGS: ‘Make sure you have on a dress!’

For some reason, Syd believes that ‘people’ need to be wearing a dress when they dance. The reason I write ‘people’ is because Syd thinks that MALES as well as females MUST wear a dress when they dance.

The other day when Syd wanted JB to dance with her, she told him he needed to put on a DRESS. Certainly, the idea that anyone named Joe Bill, and on top of that, is a male, who grew up in a small Texas town, is going to wear a dress…well, that’s just never going to happen unless it’s Halloween. Actually, I HOPE that’s never going to happen unless it’s Halloween.

JB made it clear to Syd that men don’t wear dresses. Of course, he didn’t discuss men who live in Scotland. Perhaps he’ll get into that later. There are only so many topics that you tackle with her at one time.

Syd is definite about certain things and you don’t want to cross her. For example: since the time she was very young her Daddy has lovingly nicknamed her his Little Squirrel, something we didn’t know. One night JB made a terrible mistake when he said that Baby James was a cute little squirrel. Well, Syd immediately set JB straight by announcing: “I’M DADDY’S LITTLE SQUIRREL, BABY JAMES ISN’T!”

Now there’s a new chapter to this story. Joe Bill and Syd were in a large pet store where JB pointed out the ferrets that were for sale. Syd wanted JB to buy her a toy that was meant for a ferret. JB said: “That toy’s for a ferret. Are you a Ferret?” Sydney indignantly exclaimed: “I’M NOT a FERRET…I’M a SQUIRREL!”

WARNING: ‘Make sure you refer to Sydney as Little Squirrel.’

By the way, Baby James is a Monkey. Honestly, I’m sure if you said he was another animal he’d be okay with it…he’s a really laid back little guy…luckily, for all of us!

Love, D2
