‘Sydney’s Spin City’

I want to say before you read this that Joe Bill and I think that what happened is funny, that nothing got ruined and we find Sydney’s ‘SPIN’ on life to be one of her great talents.

Sydney is still a ‘newbie’ at potty training so accidents just go with the territory. When Syd accidentally peed on JB’s favorite couch she KNEW what she’d done but she was trying to ‘SPIN’ what had actually happened. At first she told JB that the denim couch was wet in a way that it made it seem like she had NO EARTHLY IDEA HOW IT HAD GOTTEN WET. It was clear that she had caused the problem since she’d been sprawled out on the couch watching a video and the enormous wet spot was right UNDER her. JB wasn’t happy and told Syd that he was disappointed.

Well, Syd went into major damage control “all battle stations” in motion to make sure that JB wouldn’t stay angry with her. She was batting her long thick black eyelashes so fast that it seemed like there was a fan on in the room. All of her dimples were on full display and how can anyone be upset with someone who has gorgeous giant brown eyes like Bambi? She hugged JB and told him in her most endearing way: “I hope that you’ll be happy again.”

Sometimes I think that Syd’s read some manual on how to “Charm and Disarm Every Man in the World!” (I must add that her family female DNA is certainly a factor.)

JB and I took the denim cover off the cushion and I put it in the washing machine. Then I hung it up to dry. A little later I did the same thing with a second cushion.

When Syd saw the second cushion she asked if Baby James had peed on the couch. She said it in a way that made it seem like HE COULD have been responsible for BOTH cushions…although he had no part in this. Something tells us that many things in the future will be “SPUN” in a way where the trail leads AWAY from SYD and right to Baby James!

Then Syd continued to “SPIN” things. She told JB and me enthusiastically: “I haven’t peed on the OTHER cushions!”

We’ve made a deal with Syd when she’s at our house that if she has no “accidents” we’ll give her some ice cream right before we take her home. In the past we haven’t given her any sweets so the idea of getting ice cream was something she liked because she really really loves ice cream. We’ve had some success with this. But today continuing her “SPIN” on the recent couch developments, she asked in the most endearing way: “Can I still have my ice cream?”

We really had fun with both kids but we did notice that Baby James is becoming “Mini-Me” to Sydney. He copies what she says and does. Lately, like Syd, he’s been asking for a ‘mycee’ (Syd’s word for her pacifier) even though he does NOT use one! When he wants you to pick him up, like Syd, he says: “Hold you.” By the way, he can now pronounce Sydney’s name. Good job, Baby James!

I agree with his Mommy when she says that Baby James is going to be a real ‘Lady Killer.’ Earlier today we’d been outside and looked at the downtown skyline from our house. Later, he took my hand, said: “Downtown” and we went outside again. Baby James wanted to sit on the pool lounging chairs outside as we were looking at the skyline. His dazzling smile is going to charm lots of females who will definitely want to be with him.

Although their techniques will be different, both Syd and Baby James are going to be heart breakers.

Love, D2
