In talking about a darling dress that she was getting ready to wear, Child Fashionista and Style Icon Sydney Marie Stewart enthusiastically described it as: “Ooh-La-La!” Many adults have heard that term but how did 3 year old Syd know how to use it properly?
First, she gushed over a fancy pink dress with a huge satin bow calling it: “Marvelous!” Although she had pronounced that it was “Marvelous” it didn’t make the cut because it didn’t twirl enough. The “Ooh-La-La” number was a pink and green floral twirling dress with ruffles and pretty ribbons streaming down the front. I snapped a few pictures of Syd wearing it when we were at the City of Austin’s “marvelous” book store called Recycled Reads.
I’m beginning to believe that Syd either has a SECRET SUBSCRIPTION to the French Edition of “Vogue Magazine” or she’s been up late at night using her family’s new iPad when everyone else in her house is asleep!
Syd is willing to share her fashion advice even if NO ONE HAS ASKED FOR IT. At times it appears that her Kid Brother is the beneficiary of that wisdom. Recently when Joe Bill and I were babysitting for ‘Date Night,’ I was in Baby James’ bedroom picking out something for him to wear to bed. That sweet adorable little guy, who normally says YES to everything, was saying NO to everything. It was if I was once again in the Stewart Family Reality Show: ‘Say No Way, to the PJ’ but this time it was starring James Stewart!
Syd, who was downstairs with JB, could hear my conversation with her little brother over the baby monitor in his room. I was telling Baby James that one of his PJ shirts was sooo soft. Syd began talking into the kitchen baby monitor thinking that we could hear her…which we couldn’t. Finally, Syd and JB came upstairs to weigh in on the issue. Syd convinced him to wear the soft little cotton shirt I’d picked out.
My guess is that during the coming years Baby James is going to hear Syd’s fashion advice a lot. If he’s lucky, perhaps, Syd will get HIM a SECRET SUBSCRIPTION to “Gentlemen’s Quarterly Magazine” and that she’ll show him how to use the iPad when Mommy and Daddy are sleeping!
