It's always clear to me and Joe Bill that Sydney's brain never rests.
The other day I was talking to her about the fact that she seems to want nearly every toy or game that James picks up at our house just because her brother is interested in it. We'll hear her ask James if she can have something. When he tells her no she starts lecturing him about how he needs to SHARE!
During that conversation Syd came up with a unique way to get her brother to give her things. She was telling me that there's a Mother's Day and a Father's Day but what we really need is a SISTER'S DAY...that way James would give her presents!!!
She also told me that she was really tired of hearing James talk about his 'Powerful Sword!' From the looks of things she better get used to that phrase because the cute little guy is continuing to carry his sword around with him just about everywhere except in the swimming pool. You'll see a picture in the Latest Photos section where James has his sword tucked into the back of his shirt while he was playing his new drums!
Sydney and James were playing the drums when Dallas Grandmother Ama (Mary Ann) came to take care of them for a few days while Skyler and Jimmy were on a fabulous vacation to the Galapagos Islands. Syd was beating on her brother's drums as loud as she could; however when James started playing HIS DRUMS she told him that HE needed to play them QUIETLY!
James was enjoying helping Ama cook dinner. As an inventive young chef he came up with the idea of putting onions in their smoothie. Luckily, Mary Ann convinced him that it wouldn't taste good....even in a town that prides itself with the motto: 'Keep Austin Weird' onions in a smoothie isn't a good plan.
Skyler and Jimmy had a wonderful time in the Galapagos. I've included a cute picture of them on their adventure. The photos surrounding it are when they came to pick up Syd & James as soon as they got back to Austin.
Syd and James had a fun play date with Meredith White Garner, who lives in San Diego now but is a Texan who graduated from UT Undergrad & Law School, and her two adorable boys, John John and Will. Sydney was in her element acting like she was the Big Sister to all 3 of the boys.
I heard Syd tell John John that SHE was the oldest child at our house. John John looked surprised when she said that because he's two months older than she is and Syd knows that. She quickly told him: "This is just pretend!" I guess John John had his first experience with Life According to Sydney Marie Stewart!
Because Mere and her boys weren't in town for JB's birthday we celebrated it with a delicious cake that she brought over. After we had cake you'll see a picture I took where Syd was organizing the 3 boys to help her carry our huge Pink Bunny. She told the boys that the Bunny had to go to the hospital and she was the doctor, who would take care of him. Of course, Syd was a doctor who wears a TIARA! We would expect nothing less!
In terms of current Holidays...Joe Bill and I wish you a Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Love, D2
