‘Sydney Marie Stewart Is Magical!’

Writer's picture: DeDe WatkinsDeDe Watkins

Like many adults do when a child gets hurt, Joe Bill and I kiss the little boo boo and then we tell Syd and James that this will help them feel better. Sydney Marie Stewart has taken this to a whole new level. The other day we saw her not only kiss James' little boo boo but she told him that her kiss is MAGIC!

Syd then leaned over and whispered in my ear that she was sure that James would get well sooner if I gave him some chocolate. Next, she confided that she was certain that HE'D FEEL EVEN BETTER IF I GAVE HER SOME CHOCOLATE TOO!

I'm beginning to see a pattern. In case you didn't get a chance to read Daddy Jimmy's hilarious comments that followed the story I posted on August 27th, I want to make sure that you see them:

"Here's a little story I need to share...the last few days we have been unable to find James' sword, which has been a real tragedy in the Stewart household, tantamount to Sydney losing her blankie last year at the Great Wolf Lodge. This morning I FOUND his precious 'powerful sword' hidden in a drawer, and there was much celebration and hugs and kisses from James (who usually only hugs and kisses Mommy and tells me: "GO AWAY!") But when James reunited with his sword, Sydney started claiming it was HER SWORD. (James has 2 identical swords, and Syd has claimed one was her own.) James took the sword and immediately asked for the iPad so he could go watch He-Man and when Sydney saw how happy he was, she burst into tears sobbing, claiming that that was HER SWORD and asking: "But what sword can I HAVE?" while tears streamed down her cheek. As I hugged her and consoled her, in between the sobs and tears, she whispered in my ear: "Daddy, I think the only thing that will make me feel better is a glass of chocolate milk."

By the way, I've included a picture of adorable James napping with his 'Powerful Sword!' You'll also see him playing with his favorite toy at our house that he calls his computer! Luckily, for James, Sydney is not interested in it. Why would she when she has access to JB's new iPad, which she can operate a million times better than I can!

Besides liking the iPad Syd loves to kick back and read the latest Barbie book I've bought her. This one keeps her up to date on "Barbie's Amazing Make Over!" Why on Earth would Barbie need an Amazing Make Over since she's already perfect? I think that 4 1/2 year old Syd looks like a teenager from the 1950's wearing her favorite black outfit while she's surrounded by her pink Princess comforter and pillow!

Also, on the topic of clothes, Child Fashionista and Style Icon Sydney Marie Stewart can really dress up an outfit. For example, after she picked out a pair of bright yellow casual shorts she matched them up with a show stopping sequined top! She added pink high heels to another shorts outfit and you'll notice that she wore a Ralph Lauren cotton tennis headband with a lavender ball gown! That girl has style!

One thing's for sure is that when Syd likes something she can be the most enthusiastic person. The other day I gave Syd and JB some watermelon slices while they were swimming. With a wide grin on her adorable face Syd proclaimed: "This is IMPRESSIVELY GOOD!" This reminds me of the time she described a cute party dress by saying: "Ooh, La La!" Just where does she pick up these expressions?!

Joe Bill and I hope that you have an IMPRESSIVELY GOOD and fun Fall!

Love, D2
