‘Sydney, James & Jack Have Stars In Their Eyes!’

Joe Bill and I were certainly impressed when last week First Grader Sydney told us that a harmless Roly Poly/Doodle Bug is also called an Armadillidiidae. Who knew???!!!

This week she came up with another block buster. After I mentioned to Syd that I bought some art history books that I thought that she'd like seeing she told me that she'd studied in her Art class about Vincent van Gogh and his famous painting 'The Starry Night.' Syd knows that the Dutch Post-Impressionist painter sold only one painting in his life and that he is now considered one of the most influential artists in history.*

Even though James is only in Kindergarten we're impressed with his Math skills. The other day, just for fun, he was doing some Math problems while he was watching cartoons. James told me that the problems were too easy for him. I suggested that he find something more challenging. That's when James, who isn't 6 yet, let me know that he was doing 3RD GRADE MATH!

'School Marm' Syd is doing her best to keep James and Jack up to date on just about everything. I have some cute pictures of her reading to Jack. Both boys are happy when Syd focusses her attention on them. It's clear that James and Jack are close friends too. Luckily for us, the Three Amigos have fun together!

By the way, proud Mommy Skyler sent out a note letting us know that: "each student at Syd and James' school was recognized for a quality or skill they have developed strongly. Sydney received the Curiosity Cat award for her desire to know more about everything; James won the Mr. Math award. The first grade won the fundraising contest. (Skyler thanked everyone who donated in March.) Syd and her classmates were rewarded with a foam and dance party." I'm posting Skyler's adorable picture! Good job, Sydney! Good job, James!

Love, D2
