‘Sydney & James Feel Red White & Blue’

Joe Bill and I thought that it was important to take The Kids to go vote with us at a grocery store near our house.

I felt that The Kids should wear red, white and blue clothes. James was happy to put on his outfit. I generally let Syd pick out what she wants to wear. I showed her a cute little red shirt that had an American flag on it but that just wouldn’t do.

Instead Princess Sydney Marie Stewart picked out a white satin BALL GOWN with small pearls decorating the waist! That was fine with me. I was sure that Bebet would definitely approve! It’s no surprise that everyone at the polling place thought that The Kids were adorable.

Sydney can be the sweetest person in the world. She did the nicest thing the other day, with no prompting from me. As we were getting ready to leave the Stewart house to go meet James and Skyler, Syd picked up a pair of her cute pink sequin flip flops and handed them to me saying that she’d outgrown them and she wanted me to give them to a little girl, who is younger than her.

It’s clear that Syd has learned from her family how to be a kind and giving person.

On May 14th I posted a VIDEO of James swimming with his "Sports Illustrated" looking Mommy and James' swim coach Gwen at his 4th and final swimming lesson.

Today I'm including a VIDEO showing both Syd and James swimming at our house. James has improved. We're trying to teach him to lift his head out of the water to take a breath while he's swimming so that he can swim longer distances. You can hear 'Big Sister/Coach' Sydney encouraging him to breathe!

In the VIDEO you'll see Syd diving for colored rings, swimming the Backstroke and doing the Freestyle. Syd and James had a great time swimming with Lifeguard Joe Bill!

Successful Potty Training Update: The Dollar Store can be your best friend! James has not had even one 'accident' since we started the 'Incentive' Plan where he and Syd are given a gift if he pees only in the potty.

James will get out of the swimming pool and the bathtub if he needs to pee. He'll even pause the DVD he's watching if he has to go to the potty. He's clearly motivated by the fact that he's going to get a present. We consider the 'Incentive' Plan to be a complete success! By the way, Syd still likes it when we have a Conga line when she goes to the bathroom. She loves chanting: "Potty, Potty, Pot-tay! Potty, Potty, Pot-tay!" There's absolutely nothing boring about that darling little girl!

Joe Bill and I hope that you have a Happy Summer!

Love, D2
