Sydney and James have a unique style when it comes to clothes. The other day when Joe Bill and I were taking them to the grocery store near our house, I knew that it would be a an adventure.
Syd’s been a Child Fashionista Icon for a long time. She decided that a heavy wool Red Riding Hood coat that I’d bought her to wear during COLD weather would be the perfect thing to put on even though it was WARM outside. It reminded me of the time when Syd and James wore thick rubber goulashes and bathing suits to James' birthday a couple of Summers ago. It didn’t matter to the Dynamic Duo that Austin was experiencing an extreme drought during a stifling heat wave! I guess they wanted to be prepared in case it rained that day!
Adorable James looked like a fun loving California surfer frat boy on our adventure at the grocery store! Sometimes his wonderful blond hair simply says it all!
James was on a family vacation in their Airstream going across the West this Summer on the day of his Birthday. Skyler and Jimmy decided that it would be better to have James’ party when they were back in Austin so that the Birthday Boy could celebrate with his family and friends.
Skyler has sent out a really funny Video of James describing what he wanted his cake to look like. In case you haven’t seen this Video, I’ve included it at the bottom of my email. Skyler, who’s a caring Mommy and a creative artist, came up with just about everything that her little boy wanted on his Green Monster cake. Originally, James had wanted sprinkles to represent pee pee. Luckily, that wasn’t part of the icing!!!
I overheard one of the kids asking James how old he was. James, who’s literal about just about everything, answered: "I’M 6 TODAY BUT I WAS 6 YESTERDAY TOO!"
Skyler’s been making sure that all of the Grandparents, who live in Houston and Dallas, have seen Syd and James recently. Skyler’s Dad Lan (TaTa) was able to come in for the party. I have a great shot of him pulling toy coupon tickets out of Syd’s head! James hit the coupon ticket Jack Pot too!
Talking about Jack Pots...Jack’s been having lots of fun this Fall too. I’ve included some pictures of him with his Mommy Gigi and Daddy Joel. Jack loves playing the flashlight game with his Mommy. The little guy really gets a kick out of that game.
Joe Bill and I had the pleasure of taking Syd to her first Piano Lesson on the UT Campus. UT prefers that their young students have had no piano lessons. Even though she’s only 7, Syd fit right in as a College Girl-In Training! She had the best time and was just beaming. The first half hour of the class is music theory. In the second half hour Syd had a private lesson from a UT Music School Graduate Student. As you’ll be able to see, the room is about the size of a phone booth! Syd’s teacher was very complimentary saying:"Syd’s a fast learner!” That’s something we’ve all always known about Syd! By the way, I included Video #2 of Mermaid Sydney. She continues to be a graceful and talented swimmer.
