It’s clear that Syd sees life thru Rose Colored Glasses. She loves the color pink so much that she’s renamed a major street near our house and the gorgeous flowering trees that bloom all over Westlake plus the Hike and Bike Trail along Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake.) The beautiful trees make Austin look spectacular at the begining of Spring. Even though the street is called Redbud Trail and the trees are Redbuds, to Sydney Marie Stewart they’re ‘Pinkbud’ Trees and we live off of ‘Pinkbud’ Trail. Really, she’s just like the little girl in the storybook “Pinkalicious” who had 100 pink items in her bedroom alone!
As I’ve pointed out in the past, Syd is known as ‘Little Miss Manners.’ A recent example: Joe Bill had handed Syd some snack food and when she failed to say: “Thank you” he reminded her to do it, which she did. Well, ‘Little Miss Manners’ took a step or two, slowly turned around, held up her pointing finger and told JB: “YOU didn’t say you’re welcome, which he promptly did!
Sydney frequently tells us that she’s ‘The Teacher.’ Lately, she’s been adding that she’s ‘The Leader.’ When JB and I were taking a ‘lil’ walk, as Syd calls it, she made sure that she was the first one out the door and the first person down the sidewalk proclaiming she was ‘The Leader.’ Even when Syd admitted that she DIDN’T KNOW WHERE she wanted to lead us…she still wanted us to know that she’s ‘The Leader.’ It’s clear that Syd won’t ever need any assertiveness training classes. By the way, Baby James is willing to follow her anywhere…even if he did end up being her ‘hostage’ one night!
