Syd was yelling: “Don’t worry!” as she sprinted down the hall to our bathroom. This is the same girl I often practically have to beg to go to the potty. Syd also told me: “Don’t worry…I’m not thirsty!”…so we could nix the juice and she added: “Don’t worry…I’m not hungry either!”
I pointed out that the fancy dress would be uncomfortable when she’d be in her car seat. Sometimes Syd complains that her car seat straps are too tight when she’s trying to manufacture a reason not to wear them.
Once again Syd said: “Don’t worry!” as she was busy bunching up the flowing skirt to her “twirling dress.” She didn’t complain for one second about being uncomfortable. With all of the pink tulle from the dress mashed up against her she looked like an Anne Geddes photo of a gorgeous child coming out of a flower. Well, I have to add that Flower Child Sydney Marie Stewart smiled all of the way home…it was one of those: ‘See, I Did It Smiles!’…and she did!
By the way, I did give Syd some Cheerios and Puffs in the car. I figured they wouldn’t stain her new dress.
Syd is such a Girlie Girl. Besides loving clothes, Syd loves makeup. She really really loves lipstick. I’ve learned not to put on makeup in front of her. Once she grabs your lipstick it’s all over for you. Looking washed out in front of Syd is better than having red lipstick on me or on her.
But smarty pants Syd has figured out how to get some lipstick on. Sometimes I need to hold her when she’s going to the potty when we’re out and about. I don’t want her to fall in! That’s when she strikes. I’m at eye level. She’ll look at me, give me a big smile and say: “I WANT SOME OF YOUR LIPSTICK!” She’ll rub her fingers across my lipstick and put it on her lips. The girl is no slacker when it comes to getting what she wants!
Love, D2
