‘Sydney & Baby James, Remember: Never Drink Out Of A Trash Can!’

Saturday night after the UT/Oklahoma State Game we had a fun dinner with Morgan Copeland and 2 of his 3 darling daughters. We always enjoy being with his 13 year old Twins Carson and Kate. Like their 14 year old sister Nell, they’re beautiful, smart, fun, nice, great athletes and very polite. Morgan, who was one of JB’s Houston Law Partners and was a Co-Captain of the 1977 Longhorn Football Team, always tells us funny stories about his life at UT.

When he started talking about his kids going to college we asked him what kind of advice he plans to give them. He told us that they already know what Rule Number One is. The Twins shot back: “NEVER DRINK OUT OF A TRASH CAN!” This is certainly good advice, especially if they go to UT, since we all know, our hometown University ends up on the top of the Party School Lists. We told them that we’d pass along that Rule to Sydney and Baby James for the future!

I decided that we better add Rule Number Two which is: “DON’T TAKE YOUR CLOTHES OFF!” Sydney likes to run around naked sometimes and often it’s hard to get Baby James to put on a diaper after he’s taken a bath. We’re sure that Skyler and Jimmy will agree with Rule Number One and Rule Number Two. They need to remember my saying that ‘Party Animals have Party Animals for Children!’

Sydney has funny expressions. The other day I asked her what she thought of her Grandmother BeBe (Lynn’s) beautiful new condo in Houston. In her sweet little girl voice, Syd told me: “It warms my heart!”

Also, relating to BeBe, I was seeing if Syd could pronounce Benjamin (BeBe) Netanyahu’s name. After Syd easily said the Israeli Prime Minister’s name, she started singing a song that she made up using his name. The little teacher even helped Baby James with his pronunciation. Then Baby James started singing about BeBe Netanyahu too! I figure that it’s never too early for The Kids to learn the names of world leaders. They already know that our President is Obama, that our Secretary of State is Hillary and her husband is Bill Clinton, who was once President.

I’ve heard Syd correct her Kid Brother about his grammar. When she says: “I ‘got’ something” I tell Syd that she should say: “I ‘have’ something.” The other day I heard the little perfectionist correct James, who did exactly what she told him to do. Let’s hope that she only teaches him nice things to say and do because he copies just about everything that she does!

By the way, I’ve included pictures of Syd and Baby James getting in the Halloween spirit! Syd was dressed up as a darling giraffe and Baby James as an adorable little doggie. They had fun picking up acorns near our house. There are some cute photos of The Kids taking care of Bevo, who really got beaten up at the UT/OU Game in Dallas. Syd, who is ‘The Band-Aid Queen,’ lovingly put some on the beloved UT mascot while Baby James watched intently. You’ll be able to see Baby James playing with Syd’s Barbie castles and busses. He adds a ‘manly touch’ with his trucks. Also, I included some pictures that show how really really close he and Syd are, literally and figuratively! And the last shots are of Syd on the ‘Naughty Step.’ It looks like she’s come up with her own ‘Witness Protection Program!’

Love, D2
