‘Some Guys Are Chick Magnets…James Is A Lady Magnet!’

Some guys are ‘Chick’ Magnets…James Bentsen Stewart is a ‘Lady’ Magnet!!! The Ladies he attracts are Ladybugs!!! This is true…two days in a row Ladybugs landed on him! Luckily, I was able to get pictures of them. James was very sweet when he helped Sydney have the experience of Ladybugs crawling on her too! The Kids are into exploring Mother Nature so they were thrilled when this happened. Lucky for Syd and James, Ladybugs are considered to be good luck in various cultures! Our young friends, Paige and Ellis Winstanley, their adorable Twins Bauer and Hugh, plus some of their family members have just bought the Hill’s Cafe, a historic restaurant and music venue at 4700 South Congress. It’s been a popular place since the 1940’s. It has a casual down home Texas atmosphere. There’s Texas memorabilia all over the place and there are reminders of famous singers who’ve performed there. It was started by the Goodnight family. Charlie Goodnight, who was a Texas Ranger in 1857, has been described as one of the most prosperous cattleman in the American West. The menu states that he invented the chuckwagon, “which was the first restaurant known to the cowboys on the cattle drive!” Joe Bill and I took Syd and James to the Cafe after Pre School on Friday. The Kids had a great time playing under a magnificent oak tree in the charming back patio area. That’s where a Ladybug landed on James. After they passed the Ladybug back and forth they played their own form of hide and seek. Syd kept acting like she couldn’t see James, while he smiled as he ran around behind her. On Saturday Syd and James were delighted that Baby Jack Melrose came by to play with them again while his Mommy Gigi went to Yoga class. Last week Baby Jack seemed a little overwhelmed by a large book that Syd showed him. I bought a couple of smaller books that had pictures of dogs, cats and other animals. Syd and James giggled, when their nearly 10 month old little Aussie friend was eagerly grabbing at the pages. Baby Jack has been proudly showing off his two new teeth. We laughed when he reached out to touch James’ pearly whites. He wasn’t interested in Syd’s teeth but he certainly liked her cute little nose! Beautiful Baby Jack and our godchildren Sydney and James remind me of “The Three Amigos!” They really enjoy playing together. Syd loves being the “Mini Mommy/Big Sister” and James loves being the protective “Big Brother.” I had been cautioning The Kids not to be loud around Baby Jack. I explained to them that he lives in a quiet house and he’s not used to children running around and yelling. James, who’s only 3 1/2, told JB: “I’ll talk sweetly, softly and quietly.” That James is a real little sweetie pie. Syd had been so attentive that she didn’t want Baby Jack to take a nap because she wanted to keep playing with him. After he woke up, I asked her if she’d like to help JB change the baby’s diaper. Syd immediately put aside what she was doing and ran into the bedroom carrying a diaper! I included a VIDEO of Sydney, James, and Baby Jack reading! Later that day Mommy Gigi, Daddy Joel and Baby Jack went to celebrate Australia Day. It would be impossible for the Little Aussie and his Mommy to look more gorgeous. I noticed that Baby Jack liked his Mom’s beer. I have baby snacks for him at our house. I’m wondering if I should stock up on beer too! Back to James the Ladybug Magnet. Another one landed on him when we were at a small neighborhood park that we fondly call the Sydney and James Park. The Kids love playing there. Even if we hadn’t seen the lucky Ladybug we were certainly lucky to have such nice weather in the middle of the Winter! Love, D2
