Sydney rarely sounds like an average 5 1/2 year old girl. She often seems much older. Joe Bill and I bring healthy snacks when we pick up Syd and James from their Preschool for them to eat while driving them to our house. We always give them fresh fruit and a couple of other things because they’re usually very hungry. The other day I threw some string cheese into my bag for The Kids. When we offered it to Syd she told us that she doesn’t eat that anymore. When both JB and I seemed surprised, Syd announced: “My taste buds have changed!” Later in the day Syd made sure that JB knew WHERE her taste buds are. She stuck out her tongue and proceeded to point out her taste buds! Well, she’ll be quite the lab partner when she gets to middle school science class! James continues to be the most literal child I’ve ever known. I asked him to please put on a pair of clean black and white shorts that I had just handed him. James told me: “These aren’t black and white. They’re black, white and GREEN!” See what I mean about being literal! Baby Jack, who’s 19 months old now, loves playing with his Mommy Gigi and Daddy Joel’s cell phones. He also likes using the pink Cinderella toy at our house that looks like a computer. With Halloween right around the corner, I bought a couple of costumes that Syd and James could play in while they were at our house. I picked out a doggie costume for Baby Jack, who’s 19 months old. He was thrilled when JB and Syd helped him get into it. The Kids always have fun together. Jack makes us laugh when he runs around grabbing lots of colorful books. He’ll look at a page or two and then he’s off to get another one. After he does that for several minutes, he’ll sit in JB’s lap while they read a book together. Jack pays attention to the stories but he usually finds at least one book that he thinks is hilarious! The 3 children had fun in the bedroom as Syd stayed on the bed while the 2 little guys ran around near her. (See VIDEO.) Later Sydney wrote a very sweet note to Jack. She summed up how we all feel about the baby. She wrote: “Sydney loves Jack vare vare much.” It’s clear that all 3 children really love each other “vare vare” (very very) much! Love, D2
