‘Life Is Good For Sydney, James, Jack & Baby Ben!’

Writer's picture: DeDe WatkinsDeDe Watkins

Sydney, James and Jack always have fun together, no matter, whether they’re playing, reading bedtime books, looking for Easter eggs or celebrating Holidays like Passover.

As the Jewish tradition goes, the youngest child reads The Four Questions during the Passover Seder.

The youngest child in this case was four year old Jack, who’s too young to read out loud by himself. What we did was let Sydney, who’s eight, and James, who’s 6, each read one of the Four Questions by themselves and then they each helped Jack read a question. Syd and James would read a few words of those questions and Jack would repeat the words after them. They loved participating in the ancient Ceremony. They also had fun dipping hard boiled eggs in salt water as a way to remember all of the tears that were shed by the Hebrews when they were slaves. And they learned that the eggs were a symbol of rebirth.

The Trio had lots of fun looking for the Matzah at the end of the Seder meal. We made sure that each one had a chance to find the Matzah and collect $5 dollars!

Jack had a funny exchange with Joe Bill the other day when JB picked him up at school to bring him to our house. Jack said: “Joe Bill, there are two kinds of banks.” JB replied: “Really, what are they?” Jack said: “One is a building and one is the bank of a river.” JB added: “That’s very clever.” Without missing a beat Jack shot back: “Yes, it’s good to be clever!”

I included some pictures of beautiful Baby Ben, who was born on Easter Sunday, March 27th. He’s a very sweet baby and, luckily, for us (at least when we’re around) he barely cries. It seems that he’s the fussiest when he’s hungry….but so is Joe Bill!

Sydney got to meet adorable Baby Ben and like the rest of us…it was love at first sight. She’s excited about having another 'Brother' to take care of. As you know, Syd and James think of Jack as their little brother.

We all love when Sydney and James' Grandparents come to Austin. I got a picture of Syd curled up with her Granddad Lan (TaTa.) Recently, JB and I had a fun lunch with their Mommy Skyler and her Mom Lynne (Grandmother BeBe.)

I’ve sent two Videos of darling Jack singing. He roped Mommy Gigi, Daddy Joel, Baby Ben and JB into participating with him!

JB and I hope that you have a lot of happy celebrations too!

Love, D2
