‘Jack Dearly Loves Deer & You’ll Never Guess What’s James’ Favorite Thing To Do!’

Yesterday was Columbus Day, which meant no school for 19 month old Baby Jack and two of his favorite playmates, our godchildren: Sydney, who’s 5 1/2 and Her Kid Brother James, who’s 4. The misty cool weather was perfect for the white tail deer who live on our property. The Kids were really excited to see them from our kitchen and dining room. Syd and James are used to seeing deer but Jack was so excited that every time we announced that the deer were in the yard, Jack came running as fast he could.

There’s nothing better than seeing the look of wonderment on a young child’s face when they discover something out of the ordinary!

Syd is often wiser than her chronological age of 5 1/2. Here’s an example: As Syd watched the rain coming down and the trees blowing in the wind she said: “JOE BILL, LOOK, THE TREES ARE NODDING AND SAYING YES, YES, WE LOVE THE RAIN!”

As you know, we’re experiencing a severe drought here in Austin. We’ve finally gotten some rain; however, over the weekend and yesterday the flooding was so bad that the 3rd day of the Austin City Limits Music Festival was cancelled.

As you’ll be able to tell Syd, James and Jack really love each other.

James was ‘potty trained’ for a while but, unfortunately, that’s a thing of the past. James seems to be peeing here, there and everywhere. One day I asked James WHY he was doing this and he proclaimed: “It’s my favorite thing to do!” We’re all hoping that James comes up with a new hobby soon!

Mommy Skyler is trying to modify James’ behavior by not allowing him to watch TV, use an iPhone, an iPad and a DVD player. I have to say that we’re hoping that James will start using the potty regularly…because we’d all like to go back to watching some television!

We had a wonderful Columbus Day Weekend. JB and I hope that you did too.
