Jack, Benny and Syd were in competition for something Egg-stra Special. I have pictures to show you how things turned out…
We had an impromptu Egg-stra Special Easter Egg Hunt inside Jack & Benny’s house. Because Syd and Jack like competitions, having them see who could find the most colorful plastic eggs was a good game for The Kids. Jack and Syd each won one time. Benny didn’t really understand what they were doing but he had lots of fun anyway. Of course, Benny headed up the 'cleaning crew' when the Easter Egg Hunt was over!
Joe Bill and I are thrilled when we get to babysit Baby Sam. The adorable little 7 month old is sweet, he smiles a lot and you’ll be able to tell from my pictures that he loves being outside in his stroller!
Don’t tell anyone that Skyler, Syd and James played hooky from school the other day. They chose the perfect time to go to Horseshoe Bay!

In the wake of the tragic massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida where 17 innocent students and teachers, were gunned down by an insane teenager with an AR-17 assault weapon, the passionate and determined teenage school survivors held a massive Rally in Washington called the MARCH FOR OUR LIVES. “Time Magazine” quotes the Rally leaders: “Adults have failed to stop school shootings. Now it’s the kids’ turn to try."
An estimated 800,000 showed up in D.C to demonstrate their support for common sense gun control legislation. Also, hundreds of thousands of people in 800 locations around the World held their own Rallies.
Gigi, Jack, Benny and Gigi's mother Ginger (Nana) went to the Rally at the Capitol here in Austin. Jack was holding a sign that read: “PROTECT THE CHILDREN FROM WEAPONS.” I’ve included a great picture of Gigi and Ginger with a sign behind them that read: “Texas Men For School Safety.” We’re proud of Gigi, Ginger, Jack and Benny for lending their voices to the battle to end gun violence.
Thousands of people came to Austin recently for a different reason. They were here for the SXSW Music, Film and Interactive Conferences and Festivals. This is one of Jimmy’s busiest times of the year. Meanwhile, Abbey Hickman Hendrix (who’s one of Aunt Kendall’s best friends) has been staying with us during SXSW since she was in high school. Abbey is an award winning Senior Producer at We Are Walker, a company that specializes in original music, licensing and creative strategy for Ads, Films and TV. This year she invited me to hear her as she was part of a SXSW Panel, where she did a great job!
This Spring in Austin we’ve had the best of times and the worst of times. Unfortunately, a crazy 23 year old man’s bombs killed 2 innocent people, injured 4 others and terrorized our entire town. Luckily, the FBI, Austin Police, Mayor Steve Adler, hundreds of law enforcement officials and citizens tracked down the bomber and put an end to the nightmare.
This is an important time of the year for Christians and Jews as we look forward to Easter and Passover. Joe Bill and I hope that your Spring is filled with love, good health, kindness, and peace.
