We've all known since the time when they were very young that Sydney and James are extremely smart. It seems that the Austin Independent School District agrees. AISD has chosen Syd and James to be in the Gifted and Talented Program at their Elementary School!
Even though James is just in Kindergarten, he was selected for the Math Program while First Grader Syd was chosen for Language Arts. The other core subjects that are available are Science and Social Studies. Once a child is accepted they remain in the Program through their Senior year in High School. The Program varies from school to school. Most days Syd and James will remain with their current classmates. On certain occasions they'll meet with other children in the Gifted Program.
I thought that you'd be interested in knowing the requirements: "(1) the child exhibits high performance capacity in an intellectual, creative or artistic area (2) possesses an unusual capacity for leadership (3) excels in a specific academic field." Good job, Syd! Good job, James!
When we picked them up at school the other day, I asked 5 year old James what he learned in school. In a matter of fact kind of voice he told me: "Nothing" but then out of the blue he enthusiastically added: "I know a lot about parallelograms and I like trapezoids!" Well, you can see why he's in the Gifted Math Program!
I've included pictures of Syd getting ready for bed at her house. Just like Mickey Gilley's popular Country and Western Song: 'Don't The Girls All Get Prettier At Closing Time?' Sydney makes sure that she gets FUNNIER at bed time hoping that she can stay up for a few extra minutes. You'll see what I mean when you look at the first VIDEO that Joe Bill shot.

Jack spent the night here with Syd and James on Friday. They had a great time playing Hide N Seek. They can always make each other laugh.
