Dear Beautiful Baby Jack,
You continue having a busy social life. Last month was Mother’s Day and this Sunday will be Father’s Day. Your parents have had many ‘firsts’ in their lives but I can assure you that their first Mother’s Day and first Father’s Day will be days that they’ll always remember because you bring them so much joy.
Joe Bill and I saw you out last weekend while you and your parents were at Abel’s with some of their friends. It was a lively group and from what I could tell beautiful women kissed and held you all afternoon. It’s clear that you’re not getting bored with this treatment. I saw your Daddy standing to the side smiling while your Mommy was trying to referee the women who were pulling at you.
So far, we haven’t had to check anyone’s purse to see if they’ve tried to take you home with them…but something tells me that’s going to happen because you’re just so cute.
One thing I’ve noticed is that you don’t cry when you’re getting all this attention…but what these women don’t know is that IF they take you home…you WON’T go to sleep…and you might even CRY. That’ll be a big surprise to them. They think that you’re going to be with a charming Aussie baby 24/7 but we know the truth. Crying and not going to sleep are not surprises to your adoring parents.
Your Mommy has an industrial strength hair dryer near your crib which she turns on because the sound reminds you of being in the womb. It certainly must have been a noisy place to live for 9 months because that blowdryer is really loud. I hope that you won’t have to take that thing off to college with you because it’ll be hard having a roommate if you still need that thing to help you get to sleep.
Sunday night JB, Paige, Ellis, your Twin cousins Bauer and Hugh and I came over to your house so that we could have an early Father’s Day celebration.
I have to tell you how your Daddy saved you from being hurt. I couldn’t see everything but I did hear a loud crashing noise that sounded like a glass had broken. Then I could see you being held in the air like a waiter carefully holds up a tray with food on it. I couldn’t see who was holding you. I thought that someone had tripped over one of the carriers belonging to The Twins. What happened was when your Daddy sat down on a dining room chair the thing collapsed. Luckily, neither you nor your Daddy was hurt because of your Dad’s agility. We need to say, Good job, Daddy! By the way, maybe, a new and stronger chair could be a good Father’s Day gift!
I’m sending you some pictures I took of you, your Mommy, your Daddy and your Winstanley cousins. (Bauer is wearing blue and Hugh is in green.) I have to say you looked a little bewildered as you were squished in between the 6 month old Twins, who are quite a bit larger than you. It’s good to know that they’re always going to be on your side and could be very good body guards if they continue to grow at the same rate they’re doing now. The 3 of you are already chick magnets! Pretty girls like to hug and kiss your cousins too!
Life is good for ‘Jack, Bauer & The Hugh!’
Happy First Father’s Day,
Love, D2
