Now that Baby James, formerly known as SWEET Baby James, has turned 2, I’m sorry to say for all of us, he’s officially become a Member of the “Terrible Two’s Club” and I think he might be running for Club President.
Luckily, that darling little boy still has his dazzling smile, his wonderful giggle, his adorable face, his cute personality and his bright brain. It’s just that he’s starting to do anything HE wants to do without listening to us at all. He’s not easing into this new phase of his life…he’s jumping in with both feet…literally and figuratively!
Much to Sydney Marie Stewart’s surprise her usually compliant Kid Brother wouldn’t listen to her. Baby James had been loudly kicking the back of my seat when we were driving to the Hoppin’ House (an air conditioned place where kids can jump to their heart’s content on inflatable castles.) When I’d asked Baby James to stop kicking, he wouldn’t. Then Sydney took it upon herself to lecture him and threaten him with punishment if he didn’t do what SHE wanted.
The longer that Baby James kicked, the louder Sydney became….and that girl can really yell. Acting like a furious schoolmarm she was warning her little brother that if he didn’t quit, that he wouldn’t be allowed to go into the Hoppin’ House and that he’d have to wait in the car, in spite of the fact that it was 106 degrees outside! Baby James didn’t stop kicking but he didn’t do it as hard as he had been. Sydney considered that a victory while Baby James thought that he’d won the battle since his foot did continue to hit the back of my seat.
We’ve always enjoyed taking Baby James out to eat. He’s been polite, used good table manners and generally was just darling at a restaurant. Not so, after the Hoppin’ House. Baby James certainly didn’t want to “chill” at Chili’s. He moved from our booth, to a booster seat, to a high chair, to a regular chair next to Joe Bill, to a booth to the right of us and then to a booth to the left us. Much to our amusement, at times he’d walk around hunched over like he was a little old man. Once again Syd tried to get him do what we wanted but struck out.
Well, I guess that we should be happy that even though he’s become a Bad Boy, he’s still the SWEETEST Little Bad Boy Ever!
Love, D2
