‘All Five Godchildren Are Orange Bloods!’

Writer's picture: DeDe WatkinsDeDe Watkins

Our ‘Orange Blood’ godchildren: The Stewarts: Sydney (11) James (10) & Sammy (2) as well as The Melrose Brothers Jack (7) & Benny (3) are excited that Football Season literally started with a bang from Smokey The Cannon as UT beat Louisiana Tech 45 to 14!

Local hero star Quarterback Sam Ehlinger grew up in West Lake Hills. His Mom Jena works at VE Law with Joe Bill. Sam certainly lived up to all the expectations surrounding him!

All 5 of our godchildren were at our house over the Labor Day Weekend and had fun playing together.

I’ve included a cute pic of Sammy & Benny watching ‘Classical Baby’ on my little DVD player. Benny told me: “I know that Sammy watches the entire video but I want to watch only a little bit of it.” I let Benny know that was fine.

Benny & Sammy have a very sweet relationship. Benny let Sammy eat some of the Panera Salad on his plate. Lately Sammy has been saying: “Mine” when it comes to about everything. Benny doesn’t mind and helps Sammy when he needs it.

Benny still has a cute way of describing what he wants. He said that he wanted some Panera Chicken and some of that leafy stuff…lettuce. We think it’s cute when Benny asks for rock-and-rolley when he wants guacamole!

I’ve included a couple of vacation pictures: Gigi & Joel in Telluride, The Stewart Family in Spain as well as JB & me with our close friend Peggy Oxford at Pine Creek Cookhouse near Aspen.

I hope you look at the two videos that I recorded of Sammy's fourth and final day of his swimming lessons. His Mommy Skyler is in the pool too. Coach Gwen Hurst has taught Syd, James, Jack, Benny & now Sammy how to swim. Thank you, Coach Gwen!

We hope that you’re having a fun Fall!

Love, D2
